When former child-star Felicia Hayes' death is ruled an overdose by the police, her friend Jill knows it's a lie. Felicia vowed off drugs. Jill decides to investigate and uncovers nude photos of Felicia, taken when she was a minor, and a letter from Felicia vowing revenge on one of her producers. Jill starts asking questions which leads to a violent warning. She is rescued by a gorgeous PI working an adjacent case. She recruits the help of her PI hero and tracks down producers from Felicia's past films. Sparks fly between the new partners. Then, a surprising offer for a small part in a movie production leads Jill back on set, along with several suspects. She'd given up acting years ago and her acting skills are rusty, but she accepts the role and puts her life in danger to uncover the identity of Felicia's abuser and the truth about her death. This novel draws on my time as a working child actor.
